Power can be a loaded word. We often associate it with control, authority, dominance, or having influence over other people. But some of the most powerful shifts happen quietly, when you stop handing other people the authority to determine how you feel, what you choose, or how much space you’re allowed to take up.

Maybe power isn’t about controlling anything outside of yourself at all.

Maybe it’s about feeling safe enough within yourself to set boundaries, trust your own judgment, protect your energy, and live the life you actually want.

For this installment of Interview with a Psychic, I sat down with Lex to talk about personal power, energetic protection, and what happens when you finally stop shrinking yourself for the comfort of others.

Taylor: A lot of people associate power with control or dominance. What does true personal power actually look like?

Lex: (Queen of Swords) Mental and emotional health. True power is feeling safe in your mind and body. Personal power is not letting other people’s chaos control your actions. Sharp intellect, unbiased judgement, clear boundaries and listening more than you speak.

Taylor: How can someone tell the difference between protecting their energy and simply building walls around themselves?

Lex:  (Ace of Pentacles) Never be a people pleaser. Always choose yourself before others. When you invest in yourself and make yourself a priority, it is a form of protecting your energy. You’re investing in your highest will. Building a wall can feel lonely and might cause you to miss opportunities for success.  

Taylor: What happens energetically when someone finally stops shrinking themselves to make other people comfortable?

Lex: (King of Swords) Your desires and manifestations start to come to life. Shrinking yourself can block your blessing. No one can live your life, so live the life you want. It is not your responsibility to make people feel large by keeping yourself small.
